Today, as the world celebrates World Cassava Day, I proudly celebrate the journey of Aligo Energies Ltd and the steady progress of the Aligo Energies Cassava Refinery Complex Project.

18months ago, we embarked on a mission to move beyond fragmented, nomadic operations and transform years of industry knowledge into a structured, integrated agro-industrial enterprise. What began as a vision is steadily evolving into a platform with the potential to create lasting economic and industrial impact.

Our ambition is clear: to become one of the leading forces in Nigeria's cassava value chain and to build an exemplary agro-industrial and agri-energy brand that delivers value to farmers, industries, investors and society.

To us, cassava is far more than an agricultural commodity. It is the foundation of industrial innovation, renewable energy, rural prosperity, import substitution, export competitiveness and sustainable development. It is both our primary raw material and our opportunity to contribute meaningfully to human progress.

THE PSALTRY EFFECT: WHAT SERIOUS INVESTORS MUST UNDERSTAND

In the last few months, I have engaged more than ten prospective investors. Two of them made a very interesting observation: they quickly referenced Psaltry International and rightfully so. Psaltry is a true benchmark for success in Nigeria’s cassava-processing landscape. However, there is a major gap in how some investors interpret the “Psaltry story" and it’s important to address it clearly. Both investors failed to see the intentionality behind Psaltry’s success both from the founder and the investors who funded it. One of them suggested that we should “work around $400,000.” As much as $400,000 is substantial amount of money, it cannot cover the CAPEX or OPEX required for a minimum viable, sustainable cassava-processing operation.
